Kelly Osbourne put her parents to the Gen Z test in their latest podcast episode by asking what certain slang words meant, and the results were wild.

In the latest episode of The Osbournes Podcast, Kelly Osbourne decided to invent a game for her parents Sharon and Ozzy to familiarize themselves with the latest slang. From guessing that the term “gas” means “you’ve s*** yourself” to thinking that “based” is a kind of drug, the podcast became a hilarious, face-palm moment all by itself. At one point, daughter Kelly got completely exhausted with her parents’ chaotic responses. “What, what? Do you think I'm speaking a f****** foreign language over here?” she asked, frustrated.
“Yes, you are!” mom Sharon replied adamantly, with a bit of a laugh.
If nothing else, you’d think that the family would be familiar with the term “GOAT” - especially since Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne are considered some of the greatest rockers of all time. But apparently, they thought the term of endearment was something else entirely. “So when people come up and tell dad that he's the GOAT, that's what they mean,” Kelly explained after spelling out the acronym. “He's the greatest…”
“Not the devil?” Sharon interrupted. “Cause well goats are with…”
“No Mom. Not the devil” Kelly replied, a bit shocked and bewildered. “It's got nothing to do with the devil.”
Of course, you got to give the Osbournes some credit. Ozzy turned 75-years old this past December, Sharon is 71, and they’ve been ahead of the curve for most of their lives. Calling themselves “two odd balls” in their 2020 Biography documentary, Sharon recalled how they met and constantly tried to do the next greatest thing. Eventually, the Osbourne’s need for reinvention led them to become one of the first and biggest family reality MTV shows. “Nobody else in music or film had ever let you into their home on a day-to-day basis” Sharon said of the show The Osbournes. “Everything was open and probably, we should never have done it, but we did.”
The more their podcast went on, the more slang definitions Sharon Osbourne actually guessed correctly. “I’m impressed Mom, you know more of this lingo than you think you do” Kelly said, after Sharon correctly guessed what it means when something slaps. ”You may have more in common with the Gen Zs than you think, with the love of TikTok and the words and the lingo.”
Though Sharon responded with a sarcastic joke about being “tuned in,” Kelly admitted that she’s not exactly a part of the in-crowd either. “I consider myself out of touch. 'Cause I don't go around being like, that's bussin. Vibe check.” Kelly even admits that some of the terms drive her “nuts” and that she’s “dreading the day” her son uses them.
The Osbournes took things far beyond slang, also addressing some of the more serious differences between the Boomer, Millennial, and Gen Z generations. To find out their takes on what makes each generation unique, you can listen to the full episode on the free Audacy app.
