Outside Lands was back at Golden Gate Park this past weekend, delivering three days of music, food, and culture that only San Francisco can showcase. The nation’s largest independently-owned music festival did not disappoint in 2026, and LIVE 105 was there to talk with a few of our favorite artists backstage before they hit the stage.

Modest Mouse

Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse joined before the band’s Sutro Stage set on Day 1 of Outside Lands and detailed the band’s history in San Francisco, including one of his wilder stories from the band’s early days where he doubled as the band mechanic.

Bad Nerves

Bobby Nerves discussed the whirlwind of playing multiple nights in a row at clubs before kicking off the music at Outside Lands with a 12:25pm set on the fest’s first day. He also gave us insight on his latest reads and the influence Green Day have had on the band over the last few years.

Red Leather

9 years after first attending Outside Lands and making it a goal to play it one day, Red Leather kicked off the Twin Peaks stage on day 2 and joined us after to talk about the thrill of getting that opportunity.

Death Cab For Cutie

Nick Harmer and Dave Depper of Death Cab For Cutie sat down with Dallas between their two Outside Lands set on Sunday and detailed what the feelings in the band were when lead singer, Ben Gibbard, revealed that he’d woke up with no singing voice. The two also shared their favorite San Francisco memories over the years, including opening for Tom Petty the last time they’d played Outside Lands.

Balu Brigada

Freshly off of playing to their biggest festival crowd yet, New Zealand’s Balu Brigada talked about the nerves of playing the main stage early in the day and what’s next as we approach a year since they released their debut album, ‘Portal’.

RÜFÜS DU SOL

10 years after playing the smallest stage at Outside Lands, RÜFÜS DU SOL returned to close out the festival on the main stage. Singer Tyrone Lindqvist discussed the band’s rise over the past decade and if there’s been any pinch me moments in that time.
