Dad, is that you?

If you are a fan of the Christmas movie “Elf,” you may remember the scene when Buddy the Elf meets his real father.

Just like the movie, a man from Boston reenacted the scene to meet his biological father, the New York Post reported.

Doug Henning wore a costume like Will Ferrell’s character in the movie while meeting his father for the first time at Boston’s Logan Airport. While seeing each other face to face, he even sang the awkward song from the 2003 movie.

The lyrics read, “I’m here, with my dad. And we never met, and he wants me to sing him a song!”

“When he came out of the airport, he probably thought I was a lunatic,” Henning of Eliot, Maine, said. “It was a really good way to break the ice.”

The 43-year-old shared that his biological father didn’t get the joke because he had never seen the movie. If you have never seen “Elf,” it is about a man raised at the North Pole who meets his biological father for the first time.

While Henning’s father never saw the movie, he still gave his son a big hug.

Henning said “amazing” adoptive parents raised him. However, he was excited when his cousins he met through ancestry.com got him in touch with his father. Just like the classic movie, the father did not know that he had a son.

Things changed when both met on Zoom, and Henning’s father was able to fly to Boston for Thanksgiving.
