TV shows today just don't hold a candle to the real golden age of television - the '80s and '90s, according to a new survey.

The study from YouTube TV finds most people look at those decades as the time when television had the best shows. The 2000s finished in second place overall, with the '70s and the 2010s tied in third.
The survey looked at data from 2,000 participants, who also picked their favorite programs of all time.
So, what's the best show of the last 50 years? "Friends" pulled 43 percent of the vote as the top show. It finished just above "Seinfeld" (40 percent) and "Game of Thrones" (37 percent). 1970s hit "Three's Company"tied with "Frasier" and "The Office" (36 percent).
“It’s not surprising to see that so many people still love and watch TV shows from decades ago,” Kimberly Taylor, product communications manager at YouTube TV, said in a statement. “There’s a sense of nostalgia and comfort when you watch your favorite older show, but we’re just as excited about all the great TV airing live now. No matter if you like older classics or modern sagas, people want to be able to watch their favorite shows whenever they want.”
