Everyone wants to get the perfect souvenir to remember their vacation, but when at a National Park its best to just leave everything as is. One young girl is being praised after returning a rock she took home from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. After feeling remorse, Karina decided to return her souvenir, along with a written apology letter to the park, and a donation.

Over the weekend, the National Park Service shared the story of a young girl sending a letter apologizing for stealing a rock from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. In her letter, the young girl named Karina wrote “Dear Park Ranger, Deep Creek was awesome! I especially liked Tom Branch Falls. I loved it so much, I wanted to have a souvenir to come home with me.”

The heartfelt apology letter also included a drawing on the back of her favorite part of the park. The park rangers were thrilled with the girl’s decision, and even wrote her back. They let her know the importance of the rocks in that environment, and thanked her for the apology. The post has since gone viral, as many are saying not only was her letter adorable, but many should follow in the footsteps of young Karina.
