The coronavirus has cancelled a number of big events, including one many young adults cherish for the rest of their lives; graduation. Luckily, many schools around the country have worked tirelessly to make sure their students got some form of celebration. This includes the band staff at Plano Senior High School, who recently spent three days driving to each graduating seniors’ home, to perform their fight song one last time.
Over the weekend, the band staff at Plano Senior went “on tour,” giving each student their own private concert, as Friday night was supposed to be their senior concert. The band played for three days, seven hours a day, in order to make it to each graduating seniors’ home. “We have a phrase in the Plano band that says 'same thing, last time, finish strong' and they truly have finished strong. Anything we can do to help boost some spirits and give them a lasting memory," said Plano Senior High School Band Director Jason Lewis.
It seemed many of the students were surprised and thrilled with the private show. Many of them were moved to tears, while others were just happy to have some human interaction. Regardless everyone seemed to agree, it was worth the travel.
