With many public pools remaining closed as summer begins, people without a pool at home have begun looking for alternative ways to create summer fun. With the time it takes to build an in-ground pool, and the high cost of having one built, many families have turned to above-ground pools to keep them occupied as the temperature rises. That has led to the latest summer trend, as people are now turning cattle troughs into backyard pools.

As this trend continues to grow, the internet is now full of examples of how people have turned cattle troughs into an aesthetically pleasing pool. Many are now turning to this as an alternative to the often ridiculed plastic above-ground pools. Of course, not every attempt is the most stunning, as some are choosing to lounge in the metal tank, often called “hillbilly hot tubs.”

“We love it. It’s the ideal place to cool off in the heat. It was tight, but we’ve even gotten eight adults in there at once,” said Savannah McNeill, a social media influencer who has built a large following thanks to her cattle trough pool. As more people follow the trend, these cattle trough pools should become more intricate. Soon enough these pools may become a backyard staple.
