A small library in London got quite the surprise recently when they hired a cleaning company to do a deep clean of the library. While the cleaners did a great job cleaning the space, they also took it upon themselves to reorganize the books in a more aesthetically pleasing way. The cleaners arranged the books by size, instead of using the Dewey Decimal System.
The Newmarket Library in Suffolk hired a cleaner to perform a deep clean on the space, while the library remains closed due to the coronavirus. When the staff returned, they quickly noticed the books were now placed in a sloping order. “It looks like libraries will be closed for a while so we'll have plenty of time to sort the books out,” said library staff member James Powell.
Luckily, the library was able to see the funny side, though it will take some time to correct the order. A tweet about the cleaner’s mistake quickly went viral, being shared over 5,000 times. While the Dewey Decimal System may be more efficient, the staff can’t deny the sloping books look way better.
