Daft Punk has been on a bit of a hiatus over the last few years, not putting out any new music since working on The Weeknds’ 2016 LP, ‘Starboy.’ However, it appears the producer duo is getting back to work, creating the soundtrack for legendary Italian director Dario Argento’s upcoming film. The director shared the news recently, claiming Daft Punk contacted him to be a part of his next project.

Dario Argento has reached icon status is the horror movie genre, creating classics such as ‘Suspira,’ ‘Inferno’ and ‘The Mother of Tears.’ Apparently, two of his most devoted fans are Thomas Banghalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, the men behind the masks in Daft Punk. “They are my admirers, they know all my cinema. They learned that I was shooting a new film and they called me: 'We want to work with you,'" said Argento.

Daft Punk will travel to Rome to work on the film once COVID-19 related travel restrictions are lifted. Not much is known about Argento’s upcoming film, ‘Occhiali Neri,’ other than it stars his daughter, Asia Argento, and tell the story of a Chinese woman and child. Now that Daft Punk is on board, even more people will soon discover Argento’s work.
