With a number of summer events in 2020 already cancelled, some are looking for ways to go on while keeping all attendees safe. For a county fair in Ohio, that meant establishing new rules; including making sure everyone stays at a safe distance from one another. While some say to keep six feet away, at the Butler County fair, attendees will be asked to remain a cow’s length apart from others.
With the Butler County fair opening this week, many will see a version that hasn’t been on display in the past. Along with the signs asking people to stay a cow’s length apart, the fair will also have no rides and about half the usual number of games and concession stands. “We’re here for the kids. That’s what we’re doing,” said Butler County Agricultural Society president Doug Turner.
Turner claims the fair is making sure everyone wears a mask, and hand sanitizer is available throughout the fairgrounds. While some may be confused as to what the safest distance to remain from someone is, at the Butler fair it’s as easy as assuming a cow is between them. Hopefully attendees don’t get confused about the size of a cow.
