For fans of McDonalds, the only thing that prevents a trip through the drive-thru from being perfection is when the ice cream machine is broken. Ordering a McFlurry is far too often denied, as the claim is made by many McDonalds employees at locations around the country. Now, a former employee has gone viral after sharing secrets about the frequently out of order machine.

Dessy Joseph recently shared her experiences as a McDonalds employee on TikTok, and her revelations quickly gained popularity. “The ice cream machine is actually rarely broken. At least at my location. We just didn’t want to change those heavy bags of shake mix,” Joseph said in her video. While Joseph worked at the chain from 2013 to 2014, many online believe this is likely the issue still at McDonalds locations across the country.

Joseph’s video has since been viewed over 5 million times. While many fans were upset at this news, Joseph explained “When you're switching the mix, it takes these five-pound bags and you have to climb up on a ladder — it's super cumbersome. And it takes 15 to 20 minutes for the machine to freeze it.” Hopefully this revelation leads to more employees making sure McFlurry’s are available at all times.
