For most, it is unclear how or when ASMR videos became popularized on the internet. While some find the videos featuring people softly speaking to be soothing, others find them to be a bit creepy. Now, fans of ASMR are getting a celebrity boost as Kevin Bacon recently posted his own ASMR tutorial video, though it was a complete accident.
Kevin Bacon is known to the world for the many roles he has portrayed throughout his acting career, but now the actor is being introduced to a new audience, as ASMR fans recently gained an appreciation for the actor’s soft voice. Bacon recently shared a 90 second video on Instagram, giving a tutorial on prepping a mango, but the actor whispered throughout the video making people think he was sharing an ASMR video.
“Forgive the whispering, someone (and I’ll name names here @kikkosedg) was still asleep,” Bacon captioned the video, claiming the whisper was due to his wife sleeping. Of course, the internet quickly repurposed the video, as it has now been added to the massive ASMR catalog on the internet. Without even knowing it, Kevin Bacon just gained even more connections.
