The internet has done so much for the world, from the spread of information to helping technology improve, yet based on data it seems most of the time it’s just being used to watch pornography. Now, a new study is showing the amount of porn being watched by men may be doing more damage than many realized.

Older generations often complain young people have it easy when it comes to accessing adult content thanks to the internet. However, a study done in Denmark and Belgium shows that that access may be harmful when men are in intimate situations with an actual person. According to the study, 35 percent of the men who participated said they are more aroused watching pornography than performing an actual sex act.

“There was a highly significant relationship between time spent watching porn and increasing difficulty with erectile function with a partner,” said the study’s lead author, Professor Gunter de Win. The study also found that men watch about 70 minutes of porn per week on average, with each session lasting about five to 15 minutes. Based on these numbers, it may be times for some to find a new hobby.
