Movie theaters around the country are still closed, and it is unknown when they may open again. While some have created alternatives, including drive-in theaters, for the most part; movies that planned to be released during quarantine have gone straight to on demand. Now, plans for a drive-in alternative in France have gone viral, as an upcoming event will show movies at a floating drive-in for boats.

This year’s Paris Plages event is set to go on as planned, with a few changes for health and safety. One of these changes include a new floating movie theater that will include 38 electric boats sitting in front of a screen in the Bassin de la Villette. ‘Le cinema sur l’eau,’ which means “cinema on the water,” will show the 2018 film Le Grand Bain.

150 people will win the chance to view the movie from one of the electric boats, with each seating four to six people. The film they are watching is about “a depressed man joins a synchronized swimming team made up of middle aged men.” Hopefully the film doesn’t inspire too many people to hop in the water.
