Many Texans were disappointed to find out the State Fair of Texas would be cancelled for 2020, but luckily fair organizers decided to keep one tradition alive this year; the food. It was announced that the State Fair of Texas would do some form of drive-thru service so people could get a taste of their fair favorites. Now, more information has emerged about how the fair plans to move forward in 2020, even if people won’t be able to leave their cars.

While the State Fair of Texas normally welcomes around 2.5 million visitors every year, this year will have a much smaller capacity with an estimated 50,000 cars being let into the fair grounds. “It’s been an emotional time, and we still wanted to find a way not only to continue to fulfill our non-profit mission but to keep the State Fair spirit alive,” said senior vice president of public relations for the State Fair of Texas, Karissa Condoianis.

Along with the drive thru options, visitors will be able to take a photo with Big Tex, who will be wearing a mask that is nearly four feet tall. While it won’t be the same as previous years, at least the crazy food options are still available.
