Ranking states, in any category, leads to plenty of state pride and arguing across the country. However, when that category is bad driving, most just hope their state doesn’t end up in the top 10. That’s bad news for Texans, as a new report puts the lone star state in the top ten for worst driving.
In a new report, done by SmartAsset, they found the worst drivers in each state based on percentage of drivers who are insured, number of driving under the influence (DUI) arrests per 1,000 drivers, number of fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles driven, and how often residents Google terms related to speeding tickets and traffic violations. Based on their data, the worst driving state is Mississippi, followed by Nevada and Tennessee.
Texas took the seventh place slot in worst driving, tied with South Carolina. Of course, the data also found the best 10 states for driving, with Massachusetts being ranked the best state for driving. While these state may not be the safest to drive in, at least they can say they are top ten in something.
