2020 has been a rough year for anyone named Karen. While not every person named Karen causes trouble, their name has become synonymous with negativity. That’s why a restaurant in Texas decided to have a ‘Karen Day,’ giving a free meal to anyone with the unfortunate name.
Chick’nCone in Houston recently went viral after sharing a promotion on their Facebook page for ‘Karen Day.’ According to the post, anyone that can prove to be named Karen can receive a waffle cone filled with fried chicken for free. All they need to do is go to the register and say “I want to speak to the manager,” along with providing ID with the name Karen on it.
‘Karen Day’ was created to “show sympathy to the good ‘Karen’s’ of the world,” said the restaurant. The promotion was deemed a success, as the restaurant claimed about 40 Karen’s showed up to receive their free food. While they still have to deal with people ridiculing their name, at least they got free food out of it.
