There have been many stories written about the last remaining blockbuster, as it remains open even with more and more online streaming services becoming available. The location in Bend, Oregon, like many businesses, is currently dealing with the effects of COVID-19, but despite the spread of the coronavirus the store has remained open. Blockbuster has done so by incorporating curbside pickup for their customers seeking video rentals.

Along with curbside pickup, Blockbuster has added extra cleaning measures in order to remain open throughout the coronavirus pandemic. “We’re trying to find a way to get doors opened back up,” said store manager Sandi Harding. Now, customers are asked to call in ahead of time to order a movie, and then staffers clean the box and place it in a zip lock bag to bring out to customers when they arrive.

With many people stuck at home, the Oregon blockbuster wants to make sure people stay entertained while staying inside. “There’s still a lot of people in the community that don’t have streaming, that don’t have the ability to have cable and whatnot, especially now with people being laid off,” said Harding. If streaming didn’t shut down this blockbuster, apparently nothing will.
