With a number of concerts and events canceled or postponed since March, venues have been scrambling to figure out a way to safely put on shows in the future. Now, the first socially distanced concert has taken place in the UK, and it seems many online are on board with this type of design. As seen in the now viral video, concertgoers in the audience were separated in groups by metal barriers ot keep people at a safe distance.

While some acts have been criticized for putting on concerts with no social distancing protocols in place, many more may soon adopt this method of separating the audience, as the show went on with seemingly no issues. The show took place at The Virgin Money Unity Arena in Newcastle, England for indie-rock act Sam Fender. As seen in the now viral video, groups of fans were separated by metal barriers, spread out throughout the open field around the stage.

The social distancing set up was in the planning stage since April, before finally debuting this week. While it may not be the preferred way to see a show, at least with this strategy concerts could start up again soon.
