It has been months since the Netflix docuseries ‘Tiger King’ became a cultural phenomenon, yet fans are still intrigued by all the characters caught up in the world of big cat rescue. While some still want to know more about Joe Exotic, Carole Baskin and the rest of the crew involved in the series, their fame apparently wasn’t enough to attract people to the zoo at the center of the story. According to series star Jeff Lowe, the zoo formerly owned by Joe Exotic has been closed permanently.

Making the announcement on his Facebook page, Jeff Lowe claimed the zoo located in Oklahoma has been shut down, effective immediately. “The Tiger King phenomenon has definitely changed our lives in many ways. It has, and probably will continue to make us a target of every nutjob and animal rights loon in the World, but we are prepared. As of today, we have decided to close the old zoo effective immediately,” said Lowe.

Of course, the Zoo didn’t close without controversy, as Lowe seemed to claim that pressures from PETA and “false accusations” led to the shutdown. While fans of ‘Tiger King’ were intrigued by the park, many were happy to see it finally shut down.
