For many people, their toilet is like the throne in their kingdom, and not much could improve the experience. That could soon be changing as Stanford scientists have developed a toilet that not only recognizes its user by their butt, but can also help detect health issues as well. The toilet uses camera and motion sensors to identify "a range of disease markers."

No one wants to share their toilet, and now a truly personal bathroom may soon become a reality thanks to the team at Stanford University. The toilet comes equipped with a fingerprint reader flush lever, and cameras to identify a user's butt. "When I'd bring it up, people would sort of laugh because it seemed like an interesting idea, but also a bit odd," said lead researcher Sanjiv Gambhir.

The real benefit of the toilet comes from its ability to potential diseases on a user's stool and urine. While the toilet isn't supposed to replace going to a doctor, it should help alert people to potential red flags. With technology improving every day, it was about time the smart toilet became a reality.
