The days of dining in at a Pizza Hut are slowly coming to an end.

The company announced that they will be closing more than 500 stores over the next two years. These closures will target underperforming dine-in stores; the company plans on replacing those restaurants with their express stores that focus on carryout and delivery only.

David Gibbs, president of Yum! Brands says this will be a good move for Pizza Hut as the company transitions to delivery and carryout stores.

"We are leaning in to accelerate the transition of our Pizza Hut U.S. asset base to truly modern delivery/carryout assets. This will ultimately strengthen the Pizza Hut business in the U.S. and set it up for a faster long-term growth."

The company has yet to announce which dine-in restaurants will close first. Pizza Hut currently has 7,496 stores across the country, according to Gibbs that number will drop to about 7,000 over the next 24 months.
