California, what will they think of next?!
State Sen. Scott Wiener, who represents San Francisco, has proposed a bill that would install speed governors on cars that would prohibit them from driving ten miles per hour over the speed limit.
Per The San Francisco Standard, Wiener said, "We have seen far too many people being seriously injured and dying on our streets."
If Senate Bill 961 passes, it would require vehicles that are manufactured or sold in California to come with a speed governor, also known as an intelligent speed limiter.
California would be the first state in the nation to utilize this technology.
According to the proposal, drivers would be able to temporarily override the speed governor device, and the requirement for speed governors would not apply to emergency vehicles.
