First, it was scholarships to play video games. Now, colleges are handing our scholarships to play drinking games!
Well, we're not sure if cornhole is technically a drinking game or not, but have you ever played a game where you didn't enjoy a nice, frosty beverage?
Regardless, Winthrop University has become the first college in the nation to offer a scholarship to play D-1 cornhole!
They offered not one, but two high school students in Colorado the chance to play cornhole at a higher level, Jaxson Remmick and Gavin Hamann who went to Thunder Ridge High School near Denver.
The pair even signed their Letters of Intent on National Signing Day!
Winthrop University hasn't said how much the scholarship is for, but it's not a full ride according to 9News.
Still, the pair seemed to deserve the chance to play cornhole at the D-1 level; they won the first ever High School Championship together in 2021, and then another one a year later.
