Over the last few years, many businesses have packed up and moved to Texas; with the majority seemingly coming from California. Now, one of California’s biggest industries will be making the move to Texas as well. It was recently announced that both HBO and Netflix had leased space in central Texas to film upcoming projects, bringing Hollywood to the Lone Star state.
It is unknown at this time what projects will be filming in Central Texas, but both studios recently signed separate leases for portions of this year and next year. For HBO, they chose an 110,000 square foot area located in Kyle, Texas. Netflix went with a 20,000 square foot property in East Austin for their project. According to KXAN, both leases are short term, with HBO only expected to be in Texas for a year, and Netflix for 12 to 18 months.
Both leases coincide with productions HBO and Netflix have planned or already started in metro Austin. Many were excited to hear HBO and Netflix would be coming to Texas. Maybe this will be how the next great Texas star will be discovered.
