Back in 2022, one of Chicago’s most beloved restaurants, Portillo’s, made the move to DFW. Now, yet another Chicago staple has decided to give the metroplex a try. Harold’s Chicken recently opened their first North Texas location in Cedar Hill, and they hope even more are on the way.
Earlier this week, Harold’s Chicken opened their first DFW location in Cedar Hill after serving made-to-order chicken, seafood, and its signature sauce in Chicago for 73 years. According to WFAA, the Cedar Hill location is owned by a husband and wife team who moved from Chicago to open a Harold’s Chicken in DFW. “We have a lot of natives from Chicago that’s in this area. We just saw the need for it and decided to come here,” said Corporate Owner Kristen Pierce-Sherrod.

Over the past year, Cedar Hill has issued 67 businesses a new Certificate of Occupancy, including Harold’s Chicken. Now that they are in the metroplex, the restaurant hopes to expand to more locations soon. Hopefully they can gain the same following in North Texas that they have in Chicago.
