From a country that brough us a delicacy like poutine, we figured they might be a little more adventurous with their food.
That has been proven not to be the case as a Hilton hotel in Toronto recently had a patron visiting from America sign a waiver before they got their meal, because they wanted their burger only cooked "medium."
The customer, who only asked to be identified by their Reddit username, revealed on the site that they only managed a few bites of their meal before stopping because all the talk of the burger killing them kind of "ruined" their appetite.
According to Mashed this is not an uncommon practice, as Canada has laws on the books requiring all burgers be cooked to medium in order to kill off any possible E. coli. We hate to think what Canada requires of their steaks.
A spokesperson for Hilton told CTV News Toronto that the waiver is something they do at that specific hotel, but it's not "standard practice" for Hiltons in the U.S.
