A week ago, Dallas Zoo announced that a baby giraffe had been born on the 4th of July. They wanted to commemorate her with a patriotic name, and they asked the community for suggestions.
Less than one week later, the animal facility unveiled her new moniker... Marekani. The name means "America" in Swahili to honor her Independence Day arrival.
