With less than 24 hours until the gates open, Arcade Fire have been announced as a surprise addition to the 2022 Coachella lineup. The festival sent out an Instagram post featuring the set times this weekend with the caption “unprecedented set times.”
Lo and behold, Arcade Fire was listed from the 6:45-7:45 PM spot at the Mojave tent. Arcade Fire last performed at Coachella in 2014 when they headlined the festival.
Arcade Fire is gearing up to release their long-awaited sixth studio album WE on May 6. The album was produced by Win Butler, Régine Chassagne, and Nigel Godrich and was recorded in multiple locations including New Orleans, El Paso and Mount Desert Island. The band’s last album was 2017’s Everything Now.
Long time member Will Butler, the younger brother of frontman Win, announced that he was leaving the band shortly after they shared the news of their new album.
In a series of tweets, Butler said that he and the band have “changed-over the last almost 20 years,” adding that it’s now “time for new things.” Butler did take part in Arcade Fire’s new album and said that he left the band after the record was complete.
Coachella is returning to the Empire Polo Club for two weekends, April 15-17 and April 22-24. You can get a front row seat to the best the festival has to offer and take in Coachella sets from the comfort of your own home. Find out more information about the livestream here.
