What? You say donuts and tropical islands don’t seem like an obvious match? Think again.

Krispy Kreme, defying donut rules for 84 years, has just launched a limited-time line of island-inspired flavors.

Starting Monday, May 17, the iconic brand bridges another previously unexpected union — donuts and beaches! Just in time for bikini season, a new line of tropical-inspired donuts has been introduced, The Island Time Collection, featuring three new flavors.

First there’s the Piña Colada Doughnut, which is the classic glazed donut, only the creme and the glaze are piña colada-flavored, and topped with coconut shreds and a candied cherry.

Then there’s a Key Lime Pie Doughnut concoction filled with, you guessed it, Key Lime-flavored creme, green icing, and graham cracker crumbs.

And last but not lightest, there’s the namesake Island Time Doughnut, a classic glazed dipped in blue icing and graham cracker crumbs, and finished off with an icing image of a palm tree and clouds. (Insert Homer Simpson drool.)

Grab any one of them for a small moment of sunny paradise zen before setting out for the morning traffic jam.

Like a beautiful island sunset, these won’t last long — they’re only available until May 30th. Which is probably a good idea, because did we mention it’s bikini season?

The company’s basic secret recipe is supposedly locked in a vault somewhere in Krispy Kreme’s hometown, Winston-Salem, NC. One rumor has mashed potatoes as one of the mystery ingredients!

So beloved are the sticky treats that fans have been known to camp out in line the night before a grand opening. The company has ingeniously furthered its cult-like following by offering frequent free donut days throughout the year, and recently — contrary to the usual health-challenged reputation of fried dough — offered a free donut to anyone who proves they got their COVID-19 shots.
