In a story that seemed inevitable, beloved fast food chicken giant, Popeyes, announced today that they are introducing a new chicken nugget just in time for backyard summer parties.
And, as People reports, they’re dipping them into the same batter as their famous chicken sandwich -- the one that started the whole ongoing chicken sandwich wars back in 2019.
Though Chick-fil-A already rolled out similarly crunchy nuggets, this announcement will seem less procrastination than cause for celebration for Popeyes’ fans.
As People further detailed, guests will be able to order the all-white meat chicken breast nuggets that are marinated for 12 hours, battered and breaded with buttermilk, and fried with the chicken sandwich seasoning. The nuggets will be available in quantities ranging from 4-piece to 36-piece orders in store.
Tech savvy customers who use the Popeyes app or order online can place an order as large as 48 nuggets.
"Just like our game changing Chicken Sandwich, our new Chicken Nuggets are unlike anything you may have experienced before," said Sam Siddiqui, president of Popeyes.
"We aim to show the world once again the magic of Popeyes chicken with our new nuggets. We believe that these pieces of crunchy, juicy, delicious chicken will have guests question how they ever enjoyed chicken nuggets before this."
After Popeyes and Chick-fil-A got into a 2019 Twitter beef over who had the best chicken sandwich, it became a thing amongst fast foodies, and lines started forming outside of Popeyes locations everywhere for their rebooted sandwich, which has since been added to the permanent menu.
The new Popeyes chicken nuggets arrive July 27, and don’t be surprised if they too become a permanent resident of the menu too.
