It’s the beginning of a new chapter for The Head and the Heart, and the six-piece band stopped by the Hard Rock Hotel New York for a chat with Audacy's Brad Steiner to talk about it all.

Just last week, (October 17) the group released a brand new song, “Arrow,” which marks the beginning of a new adventure as the first track off a forthcoming new album slated to arrive in 2025.
“This is the beginning of the exciting parts,” said guitarist Jon Russell of releasing the new song. “Finishing the album is one of the hardest parts because were all like, ‘It’s so cool, we all have ideas,’ but then the ideas have to come to a close. You have to start voting and it gets tricky.”
The ideas were flowing big time for this album the group admitted, crediting a large part of the creativity to not being tied to a label in the beginning of its creation.
“We literally started this record with no label, we were in sort of this limbo land, which felt like we had ultimate freedom because there was no one asking us to make a record, we were just going and starting it on our own,” said vocalist Matthew Gervais. “There was no outside forces asking us to deliver anything, so at the end of the day — the sessions were
driven by what feels good right now.”
With ideas flowing freely, the group had some tough creative decisions to make when it came time to submit the final draft, and made sure everything remained fair by practicing “majority rules.”
“We’re a super democratic band,” said drummer Tyler Williams after stating the band votes on “everything.” “We’re voting on like, album art, song sequence...” he concluded before guitarist Chris Zasche added “lunch” to the list.
While the band admits voting can get heated - especially when “Eric from Management” has to break a tie - it’s all worth it to them and proves to work as they are beyond proud of the end result.
With the new album yet to be named or assigned a release date, the band says it's one of the most vulnerable projects and they hope fans feel “freedom” and “joy” while they listen.
