LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Several prequel series to the beloved and award-winning "Game of Thrones" series now have names, George R.R. Martin told The Hollywood Reporter (THR) Wednesday, even dropping hints about when they would be released to fans.
Martin, the author of the A Song of Ice and Fire novels that were adapted into "Game of Thrones," said the Ten Thousand Ships series is in development and Amanda Segel has been named the showrunner, according to THR.
Segel has previously worked as a co-executive producer on Hulu's Helstrom, a consulting producer on USA's Shooter, and as an executive producer on Spike's The Mist, among others, according to her IMDB page.
Martin told THR that he's so far written several drafts for the Ten Thousand Ships series, which is expected to follow Princess Nymeria and remaining Rhoynars, according to Deadline.

The second prequel coming up for Game of Thrones will be titled The Sea Snake, Martin said, and Bruno Heller will take the helm as showrunner.
Heller has most recently worked as an executive producer for Starz' Pennyworth, Fox's Gotham, and CBS' The Mentalist.
The two prequels, in addition to a few others that are in the works, will air on HBO, with one airing on HBO Max.
While the world waits for the above-mentioned prequels to be completed, there isn't much more time to wait for the much-anticipated House of The Dragon, which follows Martin's Fire & Blood book series, and is set 200 years before Games of Thrones, according to HBO Max. The network said this story will center on House Targaryen.
All we know so far is that it will be released this year and that Martin is quite pleased with what he's seen.
