Add Nicolas Cage to the Robert Pattinson as "Batman" bandwagon.

Even though he has yet to actually see the whole film, Cage is impressed with Pattinson’s portrayal of the Dark Knight. In fact, the role inspired him to want to play one of the Batman’s more bizarre villains, Egghead.
The villain was first portrayed humorously by the legendary Vincent Price on the 1960s "Batman" TV show.
While chatting with Fox 7 Austin at the SXSW festival this week, Cage revealed he has ideas for a far more sinister take on the bald evil-doer.
Cage was asked if there is any role he has not played that he really wants to take a stab at, and he perked up quickly when going into the idea of playing Egghead.
“I think I can make him absolutely terrifying," Cage exclaimed. “And I have a concept for Egghead. So let them know over at Warner Bros., I'm down for Egghead.”
The star has already tried a few leaps into the superhero genre, as People reported. He played the motorcycle psycho Ghost Rider in two films, appeared in the 2010 superhero spoof, “Kick-Ass,” and used his unique voice as Spider-Man Noir in 2018's animated “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”
Some may remember that Cage was actually slated to play the greatest superhero of them all in an ill-fated, Tim Burton production of Superman. The doomed project never got up, up, and away, but it made for a great documentary.

That experience apparently did not sour Cage on comic book-related films though, as he recently told The Hollywood Reporter: "I've always admired the realm of the comic book and I've always thought stories were really colorful and entertaining and, frankly, kind of wholesome in a really positive way. I don't know what the umbrage is with people that want to knock them. I certainly think there's great value in that they're bringing happiness to people."
But it seems the fantasy roles Cage accepts usually lean a little darker. He’ll soon star as Count Dracula in the movie “Renfield,” opposite Nicholas Hoult, who will play the titular character.
Cage considers himself a goth, and a large part of his cult fanbase likes when he aims towards his darker sides, so they might be excited about another character who Cage told the station that he’d like to tackle.
“I do like the Captain Nemo character from Jules Verne’s ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,’” said Cage, “because I have a genuine love of the ocean, and I think I could do something authentic with that.”
Cage was at the SXSW music and film fest to hype his latest feature, "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent."
