You won’t find Nicolas Cage belting out pop hits at a karaoke bar anytime soon.

While the Oscar winner finds performing karaoke to be equivalent to “therapy,” he has sworn off singing in public after a video of his rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain” went viral in 2019.

“For me, karaoke was like therapy until someone videotaped my punk-rock version of Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ and it went everywhere,” Cage told The Hollywood Reporter during an Actor Roundtable alongside Andrew Garfield, Peter Dinklage, Simon Rex, and Jonathan Majors. “I said, ‘I’m not going to karaoke any more.’”

Garfield attempted to get the 57-year-old to channel his inner rock star again and replied, “Don’t steal the gift from the world. You need to keep giving.”

“Well, singing is therapy, I think. Absolutely,” Cage added. “Karaoke’s supposed to be private. It’s like a prayer.”

The video in question was shared back in April 2019 amid the “Leaving Las Vegas” star’s split from fourth wife Erika Koike after 4 days of marriage, according to TMZ.

Last year, Cage married his 5th wife, Riko Shibata, at the Wynn Casino in Las Vegas.

Prior to tying the knot, the duo became engaged over FaceTime since they were in different countries at the time. Cage also sent Riko the engagement ring via FedEx, per TMZ.

The “Face/Off” star is obviously no stranger to walking down the aisle.

From 2004 to 2015, the actor was married to Alice Kim. The couple share a 16-year-old son, Kal-El.

Prior to that, Cage was married to Lisa Marie Presely from 2002 to 2004 and to actress Patricia Arquette from 1995 - 2001.

The “National Treasure” actor also has a 31-year-old son, Weston, from his relationship with Christina Fulton.

Cage is currently getting accolades for his dramatic turn in the film “Pig” and, despite his veteran status in Hollywood, described his fear of auditioning for roles.

“It’s terrifying,” Cage said during the Actor’s Roundtable. “It really is the worst.”
