Today, May 4, marks a full decade since the untimely loss of rapper, bassist, and founding Beastie Boys member MCA (Adam Yauch) who passed in 2012 at the age of 47 after a battle with cancer.

Aside from his legacy as one of the most prolific Alt-rappers of his generation, Yauch, a practicing Buddhist, was also heavily involved in the Tibetan independence movement and helped create the American non-profit Milarepa Fund, as well as organizing several benefit concerts.
Following his passing, MCA's last will and testament forbade the use of all Beastie Boys music from appearing in any advertisements. Monster Energy apparently missed that memo, and ended up awardinhg the group close to $2 million in damages and legal fees in June of 2014. For that, we definitely think some gratitude is in order... AND THAT'S RIGHT!
