The Padres welcomed back two veteran bats on Tuesday, as Luis Arraez and Jason Heyward returned from injury and help a struggling offense. Xander Bogaerts had his best offensive game of the season, blasting his first homer of 2025 and driving in 3 runs to help power the Padres to a 7-4 win over the Giants. Bogaerts drove in Manny Machado with an RBI-single in the top of the 1st inning, and then came around to score on Jose Iglesias' 2-run single, giving Nick Pivetta a 3-run cushion entering the 2nd inning. Pivetta cruised through the first four innings, allowing just a solo home run to Willy Adames in the 4th. Following Adames' homer, the Friars scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th to make it a 5-1 game.
Nick Pivetta ran into some trouble int he 6th inning, allowing a run on two hits before being relieved by Jeremiah Estrada. Estrada gave up a single and a 2-run double to Lamont Wade Jr., and the Giants were right back in the game, trailing by just a run. Xander Bogaerts gave the Padres all the insurance they'd need though, belting a 2-run homer in the 7th to put the Padres on top 7-4, a lead their elite bullpen wouldn't blow. The Padres will have an opportunity to sweep this two-game series on Wednesday with Michael King drawing the start.
