The Padres came from behind to beat the Blue Jays 5-4 on Sunday afternoon to win their final series of the first half and enter the All-Star break at .500 with a record of 48-48. With the game tied 3-3 in the top of the 8th inning, Adrian Morejon gave up a 2-out RBI-single to Jonatan Clase to give Toronto a 4-3 lead with 6 outs remaining in the game. But the Padres mounted a rally in the bottom of the 8th, starting when Xander Bogaerts led off the inning with an infield single, and then stole second base. Manny Machado tied the game with an RBI-single to center field, and then advanced to second base on a groundout by Gavin Sheets. Craig Stammen then replaced Machado with Jase Bowen as a pinch-runner, which immediately paid dividends, as Bowen stole third base with one out, which allowed him to score what proved to be the game-winning run on Ty France's sacrifice fly ball. Mason Miller then pitched a perfect 1-2-3 9th inning to earn his 25th save of the year. Miller will be the team's lone representative at this week's All-Star Game, while the rest of the team rests in preparation for the second half, which begins Friday against the Royals.
