(WWJ) - Michigan Wolverines' fans looking to snag a ticket to Monday night's National Championship Game in Texas can expect to shell out some serious cash.
But for fans looking for a more cost effective option to root for their favorite team, Emagine Theaters has something for you.
Paul Glans, the head of Emagine Entertainment, told WWJ's Tony Ortiz that the Troy-based movie theater chain has been showing games on the big screen since 1998, which fans have overwhelmingly enjoyed throughout the years.
And on Monday, January 8, fans can watch the No. 1 University of Michigan Wolverines face the No.2 University of Washington Huskies in Houston, Texas during the College Football Playoff National Championship at select Emagine locations in Michigan and Indiana.
"Oh, they love it, Tony," Glans told Ortiz. "The feedback we get is spectacular and you know, if you were to go to Novi, for example, we're showing it on our super EMAX screen and there you can see the game on a 94-foot screen."
Super EMX, exclusively at Emagine Novi , Canton, and Batavia, have the largest movie screens in Michigan with innovative 4K laser projection, 64 channel Dolby Atmos immersive sound and over 300 luxurious, power-reclining seats, the company states.
Ortiz reported that Michigan's run to a national title is just the start of sports viewing at Emagine locations in 2024 with Glans hoping to show Detroit Lions playoff games on the big screen later this month.
"We have acquired the licensing rights to be able to show it these days and so we would be honored and delighted to show the Lions run through the playoffs all the way to the Super Bowl," Glans added.
The National Championship game will kick off at 7:30 EST and will be broadcast live at nine Metro Detroit Emagine locations, as well as at two Emagine theaters in Indiana, including:
Emagine Saline
Emagine Royal Oak
Emagine Rochester Hills
Emagine Novi
Emagine Canton

Participating Emagine Theaters will be offering the following game day concession specials:
Wolverine Bite: Corazo Blanco, Blue Curacao, Lime Juice, Simple Syrup, and Lemonade
Husky Hooch: Wheatley Vodka, Crème de Violette, Lime Juice, Simple Syrup, and Lemonade
$6 Light Draft Beers
Smashbox Combo: Chicken Tenders, Cheese Curds, Chicken Bacon Jalapeno Quesadillas
Touchdown Combo: Classic Pizza, Classic Nachos, Pretzel Bites
Tickets available for all ages are now on sale for $20 a person and can be bought at Emagine-Entertainment.com, through the Emagine app, or at participating theatre box offices.
The $20 Emagine tickets are a far cry from what fans can expect to pay to watch Michigan play in Houston for the first national title for them since 1997.
"And hopefully you've been saving up since the last one," WWJ sports reporter Chris Fillar warned. "Prices were through the roof immediately when the Wolverines secured their place in the championship... according to Ticketmaster, which is the only place to get official tickets, seats at NRG Stadium will cost you a minimum of four figures -- and that's for the nosebleeds."
For those that have some extra green to burn, a pair of tickets at the 50 yard line are going for just under $20,000 and that's before fees, hotel, airfare and other travel costs.
For those not heading to Houston or to their participating Emagine theater, you always tune in to WWJ for the call.
"We'll have hours of pregame and the kickoff at 7:30 p.m. on Monday," Fillar added. "And that cost is on us."
