Washington Redskins’ Montae Nicholson Arrest: Radio Caller Claims Botched Robbery

WASHINGTON (The Fan D.C.) -- Following Washington Redskins safety Montae Nicholson's arrest early Tuesday on assault and battery and drunk in public charges, "Alex in Ashburn" called in to The Sports Junkies on Wednesday and claimed "the alleged victim tried to rob Montae Nicholson."

"Alex" says he works at DC Prime, a steakhouse in Ashburn, Va., where Nicholson allegedly was earlier in the night. A group including Nicholson then went to World of Beer, outside of which Nicholson was arrested following the incident.

According to the police report, Nicholson and a female companion, Syndey A. Maggiore, assaulted a man and a woman. Maggiore allegedly hit the female victim with a bottle; she was charged with malicious wounding.

The incident reports states: "One of the victims reported the altercation occurred after the suspects pulled up in a vehicle and honked the horn at them." In the version of events relayed by "Alex in Ashburn," the confrontation followed an alleged robbery attempt.

Nicholson and Maggiore were detained at Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, and the Redskins safety was released on a $2,500 bond.

Redskins Senior VP of Communications Tony Wyllie issued a statement regarding the arrest: "We are aware of the arrest of Montae Nicholson. We are gathering more information and will not comment until we have further details."
