
Summer is finally here, and it’s bringing company!
This summer of 2024, there are a ton of South Jersey events to get you chillin’ and grillin’ with friends and family. Even more, there are a good number of events that specifically highlight the beautiful diversity of the South Jersey area.
Our pals at Virtua Health have put together a list of can’t-miss events in 2024 that celebrate the region’s unity in diversity. That means diversity in race, gender, sexuality, musical genres, art, and of course, food! No matter who you are, make sure you get out to enjoy some of these gatherings this summer.
Merchantville Pride Day 2024 (Merchantville, NJ)
Got pride and a passion for fashion? Make sure not to miss this glamorous event in Merchantville on Saturday, Jun. 1! Peak Secondhand provides the looks for a fashion show and performances featuring local talent, and you can also stop by for the delicious food, music, and activities for the whole family.
Haddon Township Pride Parade (Haddon Twp, NJ)
On Thursday, Jun. 6, and in year four of this joyous event, Haddon Township is taking their pride all the way down Haddon Avenue! Join in on the festivities, including a parade brimming with talented performers, music, food, and the dedicated community organizers who make it possible each year. Our Virtua Health friends will also be making an appearance as sponsors of the event, so you’ll definitely want to make it out to see this one!
Reggae Spring Festival 2024 (Hammonton, NJ)
Live music, camping, art, yoga, food vendors… From Jun. 7-9, The Lion Heart Reggae Spring Festival is bringing all these good things to Paradise Lake! See local and out-of-state performers grooving to some laid-back tunes, all while enjoying delicious food and drink with friends and family. All of this happens on the Paradise Lake Campground, so you can even set up your tent or lay back in a cozy hammock!
Swedesboro Juneteenth Festival (Swedesboro, NJ)
What better way is there to experience a Juneteenth celebration than visiting Mt. Zion A.M.E. church, an Underground Railroad site? On Saturday, Jun. 8, you’ll get the chance! On top of that, the Swedesboro Juneteenth Festival brings together African dance, live music including bands and gospel choirs, food trucks, performances, and much more. Prepare to experience the beauty of African-American history, culture, art, and all aspects of the African diaspora.
Glassboro CommUNITY Day (Glassboro, NJ)
You can’t spell “community” without “unity”! On Saturday, Jun. 8, the Borough of Glassboro will be celebrating the diversity that makes its community so strong. With a parade on Rowan Boulevard led by the Glassboro High School Marching Band, food, art, and more, you’ll want to spend more time in the area by the end of this event!
Haddon Township Summer Solstice Music Festival (Haddon Twp, NJ)
For the seventh year in a row, Haddon Township is bringing in the noise and the funk! On Friday, Jun. 21, you can head to Haddon Avenue to enjoy local music, art, food, and much more! You’ll want to bring the whole family to this one.
Ceremonies in Circles (Millville, NJ)
Take a journey through West African cultures at WheatonArts – but no rush! This exhibit displaying the rich diversity of West African masks, clothing, ritualistic items and more will be on display until Dec. 29 of this year. While you’re there, learn more about the talented local artists who made the exhibit happen!
