PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A bright red billboard outside Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City encourages Chiefs fans to dial a special number to hear “a pep rally in your pocket.” Unfortunately for them, it’s a pep rally for their Super Bowl rivals.
Aloysius Butler & Clark, a Wilmington, Delaware-based advertising firm, is trolling the Kansas City faithful with a light-hearted prank this week. When people call the number advertised on the billboard — 816-323-GO KC — they will hear the Eagles fight song.
“We’re Philly sports fans, so you can’t take that out of us,” said Colleen Masters, executive creative director of the agency. “People send it to their Kansas City friends and everybody’s confused — why are you sending us a billboard for a pep rally for our fans? And then they call it and everybody gets a good laugh.”
But it’s more than just a joke.
“For every call that was made, we donated a dollar to both the Eagles Autism Foundation and the Hunt Family Foundation, which is the Chiefs’ official foundation,” said Masters. “People can’t be too mad about being tricked when they know that they’re giving money to a good cause.”
The billboard will stay up until Sunday’s Super Bowl kickoff.
