PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Fifty-two schools in the Philadelphia School District will dismiss early once again on Thursday, Sept. 3, due to high temperatures in the forecast.
Severe storms and temperatures in the 90s in the Philly region are expected to continue to Thursday.
Some schools in the district still have inadequate cooling systems, so those schools will operate on an early dismissal schedule, just as they did on Tuesday. Early childhood programs in these schools will also be on an early dismissal schedule.
All in-person after-school activities scheduled for these schools on Thursday are canceled.
Students are encouraged to wear lightweight clothing and bring a water bottle to school.
