Summer is upon us and grilling is a given. Give these juicy burgers a try. The butter is the secret weapon!
Ingredients:
3 lbs. ground beef (I used 90/10)
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 sweet onion (optional)
1 Tbsp. garlic powder
1/2 Tbsp. onion powder
1 1/2 tsp. dried basil
1 1/2 Tbsp. Worcestershire
3 Tbsp. butter
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
Instructions:
Add ground beef to a large bowl and add all ingredients, except the butter. Mix everything together. Be careful to not over work the mixture. Form the mixture into individual patties. Use a small melon baller or similar utensil to scoop a small amount of hamburger out of the center of each patty and set to the side. Be sure to not go through the patty when scooping out a hole. Take cold butter and slice off three individual tablespoons. Take each slice and cut into quarters. This will give you small cubes of butter. Place a cube of butter into the hole you created in the hamburger patty for each hamburger. Take the hamburger balls you scooped out to create the hole and place them back on each individual burger to cover the hole where you placed the cube of butter. This will seal the butter into the patty.
The burgers are now ready to cook. I did mine on the smoker. You can do them on the grill, in a skillet or other method.
Serve with your favorite add ons. I love toasting the buns and adding more cheese and some arugula.
