Who would be your dream “Friends” roommate: someone who keeps the house immaculate like Monica, someone with the best closet to borrow clothes from like Rachel, or a lovable weirdo who would serenade you like Phoebe?
For Ellen DeGeneres, it seems that the winning factor is the one who lets her stay at her house as she's disclosed she's moved in with Courteney Cox.
Cox made an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” this Thursday and was introduced by the 63-year-old talk show host as her “landlord.” The actress was quick to correct her and say “I don’t consider me a landlord, I consider myself your roommate.”
DeGeneres agreed, remarking, "Yes, we're roommates. We don't see each other a lot, but we're roommates." She then asked Cox how she is doing as a houseguest.
“I haven’t been there in a year, so I had it cleaned and I moved everything off to the right side of the bathroom so you’d have your space in the drawers,” shared Cox.
However, the “Scream” queen continued, saying that when her assistant went to the house to make sure everything was okay, things went downhill.
“I said, ‘show me around’ and all of a sudden it was like ‘wait a minute. Ellen's toothbrush is on my side.’ And then I had her open a drawer and I was like, ‘well, where is my makeup?’ So, essentially, you're a terrible roommate. You took over my side and your side,” the 56-year-old said with a smile.
DeGeneres then blamed the entire situation on her wife, actress Portia de Rossi, and explained the reason behind their recent relocation.
“I only have one side and she happened to be there one night,” she said before noting that she is “not having marital troubles, I’m not out of my house… I’m not living with Courteney Cox because I’m kicked out of my house. We sold our house here in Beverly Hills and I needed a place to stay,” she shared.
DeGeneres' California home was sold for around $47 million only weeks after it was put on the market, netting a $4.5 million profit for the couple. They originally purchased the house in 2019 from musician Adam Levine for $42.5 million.
The recently-renovated 10,000 square foot home features five bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a 50-foot living room with a stone fireplace, a paneled library, a screening room, a private gym, and a two-story entrance foyer.
The ivy-covered estate also has a guest house, an outdoor kitchen, a swimming pool, and a sunken tennis court on the grounds.
