Over the weekend, Dr. Dre shared a video on Instagram of Eminem showcasing his rapping skills. Dre captioned the post: “Marshall Mathers vs Who???!," which sparked about 20,000 comments.
At first, many declared that no one can compete with Eminem. Then VERZUZ co-founder Swizz Beatz commented and suggested Busta Rhymes. Over 1,000 people liked Swizz’s comment: “BUSTA!!!!!!!!!!! Let’s go.”
Neither of the heavy-hitting rappers have participated in a VERZUZ battle thus far. However, Busta Rhymes has been mentioned as a potential competitor previously. In September, Fat Joe claimed other artists (including himself) are afraid to go against Busta.
“Busta Rhymes is gonna out-rap, out-perform anybody who goes up in a VERZUZ with him. That’s a fact. Yo, Busta Rhymes nobody wanna get in there with you, man. You might have to be an honorary—they gotta give you the check for no reason,” the Bronx-born rapper said on Instagram live.
An upcoming battle between the legendary rappers has not been officially confirmed.
