After making history at weekend one of Coachella, being the first solo male K-Pop singer to perform at the famed festival, TAEMIN stopped by our Los Angeles studios to talk with Bru about his feelings during the set, his choice to debut new music, and more, before returning for an epic performance for weekend two.

Describing it as "new" and "very very fun," despite being "quite nervous," TAEMIN won over a few new fans in Indio, and basked in the honor of his historic first. “It feels really good to be associated with that title,” TAEMIN shares. “I wanted to do a meaningful performance that suited and lived up to that title.”
“The Coachella festival is such a large festival, but it’s a first for me. I’ve never hung out at nor properly experienced a festival before. I’ve only performed at them as a part of my schedule. The fact that I get to experience this is really fun and new for me.”
Debuting six new songs during his weekend one performance, TAEMIN explains that while many questioned the move of showcasing so much new material, he prioritized the challenge, especially since many audience members were new to his work. “I felt that a lot of people would be there who would be new to me anyways. And rather than showing something that already exists, I put significance into challenging myself into adding elements that were new and not done before."
After a decade as a solo artist, and even more in the K-Pop genre with SHINee, TAEMIN has become an idol in the community, and he still has plenty of advice to impart to the next generation. “You don’t need to limit yourself,” he shares. “I think people around us can say things that make us doubt, but rather than that, I think if you believe in yourself and push forth, I think you can achieve more than you expected."
