While Shawn Mendes has spent the past two years on an authentic self-reflective, acoustic vibes, 2.0 self-titled journey, spending his days exploring and creating at various forest surrounded studios, it’s finally time for us to join in on the ride with the arrival of “Why Why Why,” one of the two promised singles off his forthcoming new album Shawn.

On July 21, Shawn began teasing his folkier era and return to music, after taking a two years hiatus to focus on his mental health, sharing some behind-the-scenes clips of the making of his new album, along with candid captions to enlighten his eager fans on the journey and growth he has experienced over the last couple of years.
Then last week, one of those many posts mentioned above announced Shawn the album would be out on October 18, and that not one, but two singles would arrive the following week. “Isn’t That Enough,” and “Why Why Why,” both of which were were previously teased among those many shared clips.
Obviously we’re very excited about both, that being said, we’re here to talk about the latter.
It seems after spending the past couple of years in the woods, Shawn (not to be confused with 2018’s Shawn Mendes), has re-emerged giving less Justin Bieber, and more Noah Kahan.
“I stepped off the stage with nothing left / All the lights were f***ing with my head / But here I am, singing songs again / Why why why, ease my mind,” Shawn sings on the track, after asking himself, “I don’t know why, why why,” while strumming his guitar on the upbeat, folksy track.
The single also arrived accompanied by a music video directed by Anthony Wilson and Connor Brashier. Check it out below.
