Oprah Winfrey recently suffered from an illness that landed her in the hospital, and she’s just opened up about the scary experience on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
Sure, Oprah is known for being the generous giver in the entertainment and television world, but sometimes, she needs to take a step back to focus on herself just like everyone else. In an interview with DeGeneres, she revealed the details of her most recent health scare.
“I came back from overseas and I thought I had a cold, but it wasn’t a cold. I ended up in the emergency room and they said, ‘You have pneumonia,’” she continued.
She then addresses the audience to let them know the severity of her situation. “Pneumonia is nothing to play with y’all. It is very serious.”
After being in and out of the doctor’s office for a little while, she finally had to have blood drawn and was put on an inhaler regimen. After about a week, she returned to the doctor much healthier than before.
“I went back in a week and I was better,” Oprah said. “He called me every day to make sure I was using the inhaler and taking the right antibiotics.”
But despite her speedy recovery, the doctor had his concerns at first. “He thanked me three times for getting better,” Oprah said.
The health scare had its benefits for the way Oprah is living her life going forward. “It changed the way I look at wellness,” she revealed.
