Power went out throughout the New Orleans are and southern Louisiana during Hurricane Ida last weekend. The storm damaged Entergy’s power lines, leading some in the southeast portion of the state to lose power starting Sunday morning. Ida touched land Sunday.

To get power back to the region, the energy company is beginning with essential services such as hospitals and fire stations. Even before the hurricane hit, Louisiana hospitals were full of COVID-19 patients.

Within six days of the hurricane making landfall, Entergy crews had restored power for nearly 327,700 customers, 35 percent of those who lost power during the storm. Most of Orleans Parish should have power back by Wednesday, said Nola.com.
